Free mp3 – O Peter!

June 5, 2009

This is a song from my second album – recorded in 2004. It is completely unrelated to anything that may be currently in the news.

O Peter! (won’t you hear my mournful strum?) – this link will expire.

ps – lady gaga was born a man.

Cover of ‘Good Christian/Bad Christian’

A couple of years ago a friend of mine from Bolton who records under the name Ballard did a cover version of GC/BC, re-imagined in a sort of new wave/Bowie funk version.

It’s great and he’s recently uploaded it to his website, along with a whole album’s worth of his own stuff so go check it out.

A piece of drone music

May 21, 2009

This evening I made this nice long piece of drone music. I thought I’d upload it and share it because… well what else am I going to do with it?

For those who care about such things: it was record ‘live’ using a pre-prepared sample of a single chord on a nylon string guitar processed through some tape effects, synths, and a music box sound played using the monome 40h.

Make Archive (2001 -2005)

April 13, 2009

You may recall a few weeks back I released an EP of old recordings via Bearded Magazine’s BeardAid. Well Gareth, editor of Bearded, has now launched a web label releasing download-only records on a ‘donate if you want’ basis with all money going straight to the artists (hint hint).

So ‘Make Archive (2001 – 2005)’ is now available from Fleeing from Pigeons Records. They’ve also re-released the first album by my pal Paul Hawkins and have many more quality releases coming up so keep them bookmarked.

1.My Victor
2.Make a mediocre dinner
3.Hypersanity (Kiss & Refrain)
5.The Lord Geraint
6.”Headaches” Girl
7. J.L.B. Smith
8.Brecon Beacons

These are all songs from my more lo-fi days so expect snap, crackle and pop and boomy mixing. Enjoy.

A word that rhymes with Pavement

March 8, 2009

When I started this blog I did a little spam around about it (as is my wont) and promised that there would be free mp3s. Then I promptly discovered the server I’d been hosting stuff on was now just a bunch of dead links. So it goes.

I’ve now got a new hosting thing so here is the first of what will hopefully be a regular run of songs old and new which I decide to whimsically post on an irregular basis to reward people who bother to read this.

Partly inspired by yesterday’s purchase of the deluxe edition of Brighten The Corners I present a song from the days when I tried to rip off Pavement quite a lot:

Show Me Yr Knuckles

This is from my album ‘Build Library Here (or else!)’ which is the only pre-Brainlove cd I’m currently selling in the web shop.
